As the COVID-19 virus continues to spread globally and has now officially been declared a Pandemic by the World Health Organization, 360HR Solutions provides the following response and information.
We are conscious that this is a very testing time for all of us, however 360HR Solutions wants to let you know that we are here to support you in your work in every way possible.
This information is up to date as of 19 March 2020, and will be updated regularly due to the rapid change in health advice regarding COVID-19.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses known to cause respiratory infections. These can range from the common cold to more serious diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). This new coronavirus originated in Hubei Province, China and the disease caused by the virus is named COVID-19.
COVID-19 is most likely to spread from person-to-person through:
- Direct close contact with a person while they are infectious or in the 24 hours before their symptoms appeared.
- Close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes.
- Touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face.
The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other colds and flus and include:
• Sore throat
• Difficulty breathing
While coronavirus is of concern, it is important to remember that most people displaying these symptoms are likely suffering with a cold or other respiratory illness – not coronavirus.
If you are sick and think you have symptoms of COVID-19, seek medical attention. If you want to talk to someone about your symptoms first, call the Coronavirus Health Information Line for advice.

Call this line if you are seeking information on coronavirus (COVID-19). The line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If you have serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing, call 000 for urgent medical help.
It is important to inform your 360HR Solutions contact and your host employer contact if you become ill or are diagnosed with COVID-19. Ensure you have these contact details with you at all times. TXT is the most efficient form of communication at this time.

Yes, you can still go to work. The Government currently recommends that organised, non-essential gatherings be limited to a maximum of 100 people. This advice currently does not include workplaces, schools, universities, shops, supermarkets, public transport and airports. If you are unwell, you should stay home to avoid spreading your germs to others.
You should immediately notify your 360HR Solutions contact and your host employer contact. If you have fever or flu like symptoms you will be required to return home.
This will depend on your employer’s Work From Home policy. Many organisations have reviewed, or are reviewing, their policies in accordance with guidance material issued by health and safety regulators, to provide workers with alternative work arrangements.
Work at home requests are usually considered on a case by case basis and require workers to perform at the same standard as they would in the office. You will need to demonstrate that your home-based work environment meets your host employer’s work from home requirements.

All employers have a duty of care under WHS/OHS legislation to provide information to employees about health and safety in the workplace. Employers will provide regular updates to employees about the status of Coronavirus that are consistent with information provided by the Department of Health and WHO.

The four most important things that you can do now to counter the spread the virus are to:
- Not come to work if you are sick or have been potentially exposed to Coronavirus.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly.
- Clean your workspaces, particularly if they are shared.
- Observe ‘social distancing’ protocols.
When cleaning, you should minimise the risk of being infected with coronavirus by wearing gloves and using alcohol-based hand sanitiser before and after wearing gloves. If cleaning rooms or areas of the workplace where a person with a confirmed case of coronavirus or a person in isolation has frequented, you may wish to wear a surgical mask as an added precaution.

Social distancing includes ways to stop or slow the spread of infectious diseases. It means less contact between you and other people.
So, the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread.
To reduce the spread of germs in the workplace:
- Stay at home if you are sick
- Stop handshaking as a greeting
- Hold meetings via video conferencing or phone call
- Defer large meetings
- Hold essential meetings outside in the open air if possible
- Take lunch at your desk or outside rather than in the lunchroom
- Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces regularly
- Consider opening windows and adjusting air conditioning for more ventilation
- Limit food handling and sharing of food in the workplace
- Reconsider non-essential business travel
